Barks and Meows Rescue was founded in January 2008. We are a foster based canine Rescue who pull various breeds from Shelters in both Ontario and the United States. We have wonderful foster homes from Woodstock to Chatham. The dogs we pull are dogs we believe have a very good chance at being adopted. They may be of any age, they may be timid or may be very well rounded. We focus on dogs that do not typically, have behavioural issues. All dogs are vetted before being adopted out. We also Rescue many pregnant dogs, coming in from the high kill shelters in the South. Many of them are heartworm and or Lyme positive. Some require Cesarean sections which are very costly procedures. All of our adoption fees are applied to the vetting which means the cycle never ends. Barks and Meows Rescue provides the food, crates, bedding, leashes, collars, body harnesses and medical care and the foster families provide their time, love, and socialization until the dogs are adopted out to approved applicants.
