The Bastrop County Animal Shelter became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, the shelter has 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony-type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide.
The Mary E. Barina Center located on the Bastrop County Animal Services' campus is now in full operation 7 days a week. The BCAS Wellness Clinic is open to the public on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays offering low-cost vaccinations and preventative care for owned pets. The surgery suite is being used two days a week for shelter animals and the non-profit organization, Save An Angel, is offering low-cost spay and neuters services to the public two days a week.
The proceeds from this calendar fundraiser will be going to Save An Angel's Spay-it-Forward fund which will allow the Bastrop County Animal Control Officers to provide free and low-cost spay and neuter certificates to residents in underserved communities.

We are equally committed to proactively improving the quality of life for pets and increasing pet retention by empowering our community with the education and resources needed to care and provide for their companions.
