Prizing - Winners
- The top three spots will each win a place for their pet to be featured on one of the cans in a 4-pack of a special, limited-release Yellow Dog Brewing beer! (One animal per label.) Winners will be determined by their vote totals as of the contest end at 8 p.m. PDT on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
- The fourth label will be awarded in a draw. Each animal participant will receive 1 entry into the draw for every 150 votes they earn. A winner will be randomly selected from these entries.
- The BC SPCA and Yellow Dog Brewing will present all 4 label winners with a prize that includes: a pair of custom beer glasses with your pet's face; a digital copy of the artwork of your pet for personal use; merchandise from Yellow Dog Brewing; and a $250 Yellow Dog Gift Card that you can put towards purchasing the special edition Starborn 4-packs that include your amazing pet's face. These prizes will be shipped at no cost, however the physical prizes are limited to contestants with a shipping address in British Columbia, Canada.
Prizing - Runners-up and Paw Perk
- Runners-up: The next three spots following the winners will receive a runner-up prize. The prize includes: a pair of custom beer glasses with your pet's face; a digital copy of the artwork of your pet for personal use; and a $150 Yellow Dog Gift Card plus merchandise. These prizes will be shipped at no cost, however the physical prizes are limited to contestants with a shipping address in British Columbia, Canada. The winner and runner-up prizes are limited to one prize per contest entry - the same entry cannot win multiple prizes.
- Paw Perk: Each contestant who reaches 650 votes is eligible to receive a $50 gift card to the BC SPCA Online Store! Wear your love for animals on your sleeve (literally) with an array of adorably branded clothing, grab some toys for your pet and more.
All contestants who reach this milestone will be contacted by September 26. Information will be sent via email from events@spca.bc.ca with instructions on how to claim your gift card by October 31. If you reach this milestone and do not receive an email by September 26, contact us at events@spca.bc.ca. We will never ask you for personal or financial information to claim your prize.
Contest Rules
- You must be 19+ years of age to participate in the Make My Pet a Yellow Dog Brewing Star contest. This includes both entering and voting in the contest.
- The contest opens at 12:00 a.m. PDT on September 3, 2025. The contest ends on September 21, 2025 at 8:00 p.m. PDT. All fundraising must take place within these dates.
- Donations made in support of an animal are valued at one vote for every $1.00 donated, with the exception of any promotions where bonus votes are available.
- The four winners and three runners-up will be posted to the homepage of this website on September 22, 2025. The winners will also be contacted directly by the BC SPCA or Yellow Dog Brewing to make arrangements for submitting the required photos.
- Winners will be determined according to how many votes they earn in their contest fundraisers. To join the contest, you must create a Make My Pet a Yellow Dog Brewing Star contest entry on this website.
- If there is a tie for third place, the animal entry that reached their final vote total first will receive the prize.
- All winners and runners-up must be domesticated animals. Animals in contest photos must not be displaying any signs of distress (e.g., looking fearful or anxious). We reserve the right to ask for a new picture submission for any reason. Please see full image requirements for winners.
- The BC SPCA reserves the right to disqualify an entry based on objectionable content or depiction of the animal or persons in a photo, if an appropriate replacement cannot be submitted.
- All winners must provide a selection of 3-4 photos of their pet by Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Photos must meet the image requirements described below. If appropriate photos are not provided by the deadline the BC SPCA reserves the right to offer the winning place to the next eligible contestant.
- By agreeing to the waiver when you enter the contest, you acknowledge and give permission to the BC SPCA to use the name, story and photo of the animal entered in future various BC SPCA publications, promotions, and materials.
- To claim their prize, winners must acknowledge and give permission to the BC SPCA and Yellow Dog Brewing to use the name, story, photos and image of the animal entered in future BC SPCA and Yellow Dog Brewing publications, promotions, and materials.
- Sign up matching bonus: Bonus votes are available when you make a self-donation during your contest entry registration, 1 bonus vote for every dollar you donate. There is a maximum of 500 bonus votes per animal entry and this is only valid for your personal donation to your own entry. No bonus votes can be distributed after the contest ends.
Image and Name Requirements for Winners
So long as an animal does not look distressed (e.g. fearful or anxious), you may enter the contest with whatever picture you choose. Winning submissions must follow the below rules to print:- The label design includes the name of the animal. However, if a winning pet has a name that uses offensive or questionable language, or is in contradiction to BC SPCA policies, that pet's name will not be printed.
- Winners must own the rights to the photos they provide (i.e. photos taken by professional photographers who reserve the rights to their images are not eligible).
- Photos must be high quality and resolution. In general, they should be at least 3600x2700 pixels (or 12x9 inches) at a resolution of 300 DPI. (Generally, cell phones from 2020 onwards should take photos of sufficient quality.)
- Photos submitted must include only the winning animal (and no other animals or humans). The animal should be present in no less than 2/3 of the frame.
- Please ensure that the photo is sharp and in focus with a clean background.
- No images which are in conflict with BC SPCA policies or procedures can be accepted. Photos submitted must follow the Five Freedoms (spca.bc.ca/faqs/five-freedoms). The BC SPCA is opposed to practices that prevent animals from expressing natural behaviours. Photos should not feature animals performing unnatural activities, including wearing clothing, accessories (e.g., bows), or costumes. If a photo is deemed ineligible, the winning contestant will have five days to submit new photos. If a usable photo cannot be produced the label will go to the next highest fundraiser.
