Your Pet's Story or Bio
Loki was at the local human society. My wife, Laura, was in front of his cage and I was in front of the cage right next to his giving another dog commands. Loki was listening and following every command I gave. Laura said, "This is the one." There was a sign on Loki's cage that read that he was on hold. It also said that he was a tan Chinese sharpai. We asked if this sign was accurate and we were told that it was. He had to see the ortho surgeon before he was able to be adopted. He was cleared a few days later by ortho, but he did sustain a fractured hip which had healed. He walks bold legged, and mostly lies around. He loves to go for walks, but that took some time. I remember when I first took him for a walk, there was snow on the ground. He decided he had enough and just laid down. I said, "Cmon, lets go". He didn't budge. So I started to drag him and he just let me. I didn't think this would be the best way to get him all the way home. So I stopped and started to yell, "CMON LETS GO, HOME HOME!" He didn't care. He knew I had no idea what I was doing. Just as the neighbors do I suspect. I imagine they were looking outside their windows looking at an incompetent new dog owner flailing his arms everywhere and yelling at this black blob on the sidewalk. Finally I said screw it and threw him over my shoulder and walked him all the way back home. I got home and told Laura that the dog was broken and we need to get a new one. Laura's much more intelligent and patient than I am, so she really just let me bitch for 4 minutes. Anyways, I didn't give up on Loki and he didn't give up on me. We walk every day, he stopped, for the most part, lying down during our walks. If he does lay down all I have to say is, "Loki wanna go for a walk", then he gets up all excited and continues walking while I mutter under my breath, "what do you think we're doing?" I don't maybe we'll bring him to a doggy psychiatrist to see if he's got the ADD. Ummm.....what? So, about 6 months later we got another dog, Luna. Luna was a 4 month old husky who was the complete opposite of Loki. But they became best friends on day 1. We are now fostering 2 more furry babies and I'm pretty sure every time we come in with a new dog, Loki judges us a little more. He gets along with all the animals but he still is pretty selfish. He plays this trick on me where he scratches at the door at 3am like he has to poop. I get up to let him out and Luna is like, "Oh, time to wake up. Okay, lets race downstairs." Well I know it takes Loki awhile to get downstairs so I let Luna out first. Luna is already done with her business and Loki hasn't even made it downstairs yet. Well, screw him he will have to wait until the morning. When I come back upstairs, he's laying in my spot on the bed. He tries this every night, and is successful most nights. Maybe, I should see the psychiatrist. Anyways, we actually have an amazing bond. The attached picture is him lying on my lap when I get home from work everyday. I could go on about Loki and Luna and our fosters, but I suck at typing on a phone and my hand is going numb
