BROOD 2025 Calendar Contest

 

Welcome to the Basset Rescue of Old Dominion (BROOD) 2025 Calendar Contest.  We are excited to use GOGO Photo Contest for the contest again this year.  Please review the Voting Contest Rules page for important information.  Some rules have changed this year.

The top 12 dogs will each be featured as the main photo for one of the 12 months in the 2025 BROOD wall and desk calendars.  The top 12 dogs will also be featured on the desk and wall calendar covers.

The top 3 dogs will receive additional special prizes and the top vote recipient can pick the month their pet is featured.  Check out the Prizes and Photo Placement page for more information.

Dogs in positions 13 through 18 at the end at the end of the contest will have their photos (larger than thumbnails) placed on the Runners Up page in the calendar.  Dogs in places 19 and above will have their thumbnail photos randomly placed throughout the calendar.

Submit your dog’s photo on this page starting March 1 thru April 30.   Voting by the public begins April 15 and ends June 5 at 10 pm Eastern.

All dogs adopted from BROOD are eligible to be entered in the contest. We also accept entries of bassets and basset mixes not adopted from BROOD.

Tell your pet’s story when submitting your photo so that supporters can get to know your best friend.  Be sure to encourage your family and friends to vote early and often.

IMPORTANT PHOTO REQUIREMENTS:  Please read the Photo Size Requirements page for format, size and quality information.

NOTE: You must create an account to submit photos to the contest and vote in the contest.  Payment accepted is credit and debit cards.  Checks are not accepted. 

Reserve a Day to Honor Your Pet

Just want a guaranteed spot in the calendar?  Don't want to participate in the Contest Voting? Reserve a day to honor your pet. This can be for your pet's adoption anniversary or birthday, a loved one's birthday, memorial or really any special day! Your pet's photo will appear on the day of your choice. Just choose your favorite photo and then choose the day and pay! Each date is a $25 donation. Once a date has been reserved, it will no longer be available.  Last day to Reserve a Day is June 5.

Voting Contest Rules
BROOD Calendar Voting Contest Rules

Dust off your best dog photos or start snapping new ones. It is time for the 2025 BROOD calendar contest. Please read all the Contest Rules carefully before submitting your photos.  These rules apply to the Donate-to-Vote Contest only. 

  • Entry fee is $20 per photo, non-refundable.  The entry fee counts toward the dog's vote total.
  • Only 1 photo per dog can be submitted in the contest.  Additional photos for a dog will not be accepted. 
  • Each entry must be submitted via the GoGo website. Entries submitted otherwise will not be accepted.
  • All dogs adopted from BROOD are eligible to be entered in the contest. Non-BROOD dog entries must be bassets or basset mixes.  
  • Only VOTES (donations) submitted online on the GoGo site are valid for voting. Checks are not accepted. 
  • There will be 12 different winners for the 12 months based on vote totals. The top vote recipient can pick the month their dog is featured. The top 12 dogs will be featured as monthly winners in the desk and wall calendar covers.
  • The top 3 dogs will receive prizes. (See Prizes page.)

  • Entries can be submitted 12:00:00 AM (Eastern Time) on Friday, March 1, 2024 thru 11:59:59 PM (Eastern Time) on Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
  • Public voting for entries begins at 12:00:00 AM (Eastern Time) on Monday, April 1, 2024 and ends at 10:00:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. Each vote is $1.
  • No people are permitted in the photos.  Dogs or other animals only. 
  • IMPORTANT – Photo orientation must be landscape (i.e., the photo is wider than it is tall), not portrait (i.e., taller than it is wide).  Portrait oriented photos will NOT be accepted.
  • The photo needs to be in focus and not over or under exposed (too light or too dark). Make sure you are shooting at the highest quality setting on your camera or phone. 
  • Do not Photoshop, add text to your photos or otherwise digitally manipulate photos (including collages).  
  • BROOD reserves the right to reject photos that are not landscape, that are not high enough resolution to be printed, photos that do not conform to our contest rules, or ones that we deem inappropriate. Entrants with rejected photos will be provided the opportunity to submit substitute photos.
  • Note that any entries that were taken by a professional photographer MUST have written permission from that photographer for use in the contest. BROOD cannot be held liable for copyright infringements. Entries without written permission will be rejected.
  • Entries must be submitted by the owner of the pet, or with permission and knowledge of the owner. If the photo was taken by someone other than the owner, permission must be granted from the person who owns the photo.

Reserve A Date Photos

Photos can be either landscape or portrait format. The photo needs to be in focus and not over or under exposed (too light or too dark). No humans are permitted in the photos. Do not Photoshop, add text to your photos or otherwise digitally manipulate photos (including collages). 

Prizes and Photo Placement
Top Vote Recipient
The top vote recipient will receive a custom framed and matted 11 by 14 digital print of the winning photo from Framemaker. framemakerii.com/pets and a 2025 wall calendar and a desk calendar. The top vote recipient can pick the month their pet is featured.

Second Place and Third Place Vote Recipients
The second and third place recipients will each a receive a 14-inch pillow printed with their photo and a 2025 wall calendar and a desk calendar.

The Top 12 Vote Recipients
The top 12 dogs will each be featured as the main photo for one of the 12 months in the 2025 BROOD wall and desk calendars, with a short write-up from the pet parent(s) in the wall calendar. Winning photos of the top 12 winners will also be on the cover of the desk and wall calendars in a collage format.

Runners-Up
Dogs in positions 13 through 18 at the end at the end of the contest that are not monthly winners will have their photos placed in the Runners Up page in the wall calendar. 
 
All Other Entrants
Dogs in places 19 and above will have their thumbnails placed randomly throughout the calendar pages. 


About Us
BROOD is an all-volunteer dog rescue organization licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia and rescues basset hounds and basset mixes in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, District of Columbia and portions of Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Since 1996 BROOD has cared for and adopted over 3,430 dogs. Providing medical and temporary custodial care for homeless bassets is part of our mission and placing bassets in loving, permanent adoptive homes is our primary goal.  We are now in our 28th year of rescue.
