Think your rescue pet has star power? Now’s their chance to shine. We’re searching for standout pets to feature in our 2026 calendar, whether your furry friend came from CASPCA or another rescue. Enter your sassiest photo, rally some votes, and your pet could land one of 13 coveted placements. The pet with the most votes will be crowned our Calendar Cover Star and win a one-hour professional portrait session with UVA’s own Director of Athletics Photography, Jamie Holt.

Want to Guarantee Your Pet's Photo in the Calendar?Reserve a day to honor your pet! For a $10 donation, your pet's photo will appear on the day of your choice (birthday, anniversary, adoption date). These spaces are first come, first served. Once a date has been reserved, it will no longer be available. If you just want to ensure your pet is in the calendar on a specific date, but don't want to compete for one of the 13 title spots, there's no need to submit a $35 submission to participate in the contest. The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is a private animal shelter based in Charlottesville, VA, whose purpose is finding permanent adoptive homes for animals. We also serve as the contracted public animal shelter for Albemarle County and the City of Charlottesville to impound or shelter seized, stray, abandoned unwanted or surrendered animals. The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is committed to saving all healthy and treatable animals in our care, regardless of how long they've been with us. We are a progressive, solution-oriented animal welfare organization dedicated to saving lives.
Our mission is to advance the compassionate treatment of animals by providing sheltering, medical care and behavioral services for dogs and cats; promoting permanent, caring homes, and furthering education and outreach.
Entry Guidelines
- Open to all pet lovers! Dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, reptiles, are welcome.
- Pets do not need to be adopted from CASPCA or reside in Albemarle County.
- Entry fee: $35 per photo submission for consideration as a featured “Month” spread.
- You may submit multiple entries, but each requires its own $35 fee.
Photo Requirements
- Only non-wildlife companion animals are accepted.
- Domestic pets only — no people in photos.
- Photos may include more than one pet.
- Photos must be:
- High-resolution (minimum 300 dpi)
- Full-color (no filters or heavy edits)
- Free of watermarks
- Include your pet’s name, a short story (500 characters or less), and your contact info with your submission.
- Offensive or inappropriate content will be disqualified.
Voting Process
- Public voting will determine:
- The Calendar Cover Star
- The 12 monthly features
- Each $1 donation = 1 vote
- Voting opens at 6:00 AM (Eastern Time) on Thursday, September 18, 2025 and closes at 10:00 PM (Eastern Time) on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
- A pet must receive at least 5 votes to be eligible for the calendar.
- The pet with the most votes will be crowned our Calendar Cover Star and win a one-hour professional portrait session with UVA’s own Director of Athletics Photography, Jamie Holt.
- 12 pets will be selected as monthly feature pets.
