Pup-Pup’s journey is nothing short of miraculous. Once a miniature Aussie stud trapped in a breeder-turned-hoarder’s home, he was one of the few survivors found after tragedy struck. Though rescued, his fight wasn’t over—he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure caused by an untreated birth defect. The day after Christmas, we drove him to Raleigh, where the vet school performed lifesaving surgery. During his long recovery, Pup-Pup filled our home with joy, bonded with our baby, and gave new life to our golden retriever battling a brain tumor. Our boys named him Pup-Pup because, at first, he was too scared to respond to any name. I’d whisper, “It’s okay, sweet Pup-Pup.” What began as a foster story became our family’s greatest gift.
