Why is Your Pet "Rescued (or Stray) and Unforgettable"?
I adopted Freyja after she was rescued off the streets of South Korea in 2016. Our journey has not been an easy one. It started with extreme fearfulness that needed tons of training and behavior modification. Then Freyja struggled with health issues, such as atopic dermatitis, which required immunotherapy, and food intolerances that needed the help of a nutritionist.
Freyja's a survivor, though. More than that- she's a fighter. But above all, she is my teacher.
Just last year Freyja, my fighter and survivor, was diagnosed with Addison's disease. Addison's disease in dogs is an autoimmune disease resulting from insufficient amounts of hormones released by the adrenal glands. If it is not treated in its early stages, it can be fatal.
I thought this might be the end of our journey. Freyja had lost a lot of muscle tone, but after starting treatment her appetite returned and she has responded well. Like I said-she is a survivor and a fighter.
I love this girl to the moon and back and hope to have a much longer journey ahead for the two of us. The things about her that make her unforgettable to me are her resilience, and her ability to be kind to her people and happy despite all the bumps in her road. She pushes through every day with her head held high.
Nature created a very special girl when it created my Freyja.
