Pet’s Story
Herbie is the ultimate survivor. I adopted him him from the Dubuque Humane Society in 2023. When he was rescued, he had to be shaved due to matting and was severely malnourished along with having his front paws declawed and his tail having been broken in two different spots, but he never let that past break him. He’s a total fighter who earned the respect of my 100lb German Shepherd and patiently put up with his siblings during their feral kitten stage who thought his fluffy tail was a toy.
He’s a friend to every person he meets and is the calmest cat I have ever met. He loves being cradled like a baby and you can almost always find him relaxing completely upside down and showing off his belly in some contorted position. He is always finding a way to be near you and is happiest just experiencing life with you. Herbie shows us that the ultimate victory over a hard past is the ability to be soft
