Pet’s StoryMeet Casper, a Great Pyrenees, Husky, and German Shepherd mix with a story worth telling.
Casper came into my life on October 22, 2022, through the Dubuque Humane Society while I was a student at UW-Platteville. He had just arrived from the Fort Worth, Texas area when we picked him up, weighing only 59 pounds and severely malnourished at two years old. His adoption records noted an embedded collar and a wire wrapped around his leg, signs of a hard start he somehow left entirely behind him.
He turned out to be one of the best roommates a college student could ask for. No drama, no barking, just a giant fluffy presence that wanted to sprawl out and be petted. Toys hold no interest for him. Napping does. He now weighs a healthy 105 pounds, which he carries with the quiet dignity of a dog who has nothing to prove.
