I rescued Max when he was 2 years old. He came from a breeder who basically kept the males all caged up. He walked on wire..drank from gerbil bottle. He learned to walk up steps and eat and drink like dogs were intended to do. He never played with toys and to this day he doesn't understand the concept.. he tries to give kisses. He adjusted over a period of time with the help of my other shih tzu. He's 13 now and is the most appreciative dog you could ever ask for. He doesn't need a leash because he never leaves my side.
