Meet Derrick: part-time cat, full-time cuddle tyrant.

Derrick came to us from ECCHA-from foster to….eating us out of house and home forever. 🩷

Derrick is a majestic feline of… let’s call it “generous” proportions, with a passion for food so intense, you’d think he was raised by raccoons. No plate is safe, no bag left unscrutinized. If it crinkles, it must be edible.

He believes personal space is a myth—especially mine. Derrick doesn’t ask to cuddle; he declares it. Whether I’m working, sleeping, or just trying to exist in peace, he appears like a fluffy wrecking ball of love. He flops, purrs, and wiggles his way into my arms, your arms, literally anyone’s arms. Stranger? Doesn’t matter. You’re part of the cuddle coalition now.

If he’s feeling especially loving (or ignored), he’ll add in a gentle chomp—just a little love bite to remind you he’s here, he’s hungry, and he deserves pets. Always.

Despite his dramatic flair, Derrick is pure heart. A snuggly, snack-loving sidekick who’s never far away—and usually sitting on something important, like my laptop or my head.

I wouldn’t trade him for the world. But I might trade him for five minutes of uninterrupted sleep.
