East Mountain Companion Animal Project is a foster-based network, intending to keep puppies and kittens out of shelters and off of Craigslist. Baby animals that are taken to shelters take up valuable kennel space as well as taking attention and possible adopters from the harder-to-place adult dogs and cats. When they are "rehomed" online or in front of stores, they are rarely vetted- continuing the cycle of pet overpopulation and the spread of communicable diseases into our communities. Rescue- it's the only responsible choice.
