Friends of Arlington Animal Services is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group of volunteers founded in 2007, dedicated to increasing the Live Release Rate at Arlington Animal Services which has risen from 46% to 80% in the last 3 years.
FAAS volunteers are active volunteers at the Arlington Shelter, kitten and puppy fosters, networkers of the pets at Arlington Animal Services and promoters of adoption. FAAS supports the rescues that save lives from our shelter by raising funds and coordinating help with rescues.
FAAS also offers free basic training to all adopters from Arlington Animal Services and produced and prints a New Adopter’s Handbook for all adopters to make adoptions a success. Winners of this contest will be featured in this handbook.
Trap-Neuter-Return of Community Cats has been a huge focus for FAAS in the last year to eventually decrease intake at the shelter of free roaming cats and unwanted kittens. We have rescued 1,200+ cats from the Arlington Shelter and have neutered, vaccinated, ear tipped and returned them to their homes. We also have an active trapping program that targets problem areas to reduce the feral cat population, 2,000 cats have been TNRed through FAAS programs in the last year!
