Foothills Humane Society relies on fundraisers such as the Rescue Brew Photo Contest to continue to provide shelter, food, medical care, microchipping and spay/neuter to the dogs and cats in our care.
Additionally, FHS works with the broader community by providing free pet food as well as free or low-cost spay/neuter vouchers to pet owners throughout our community who are in need of financial assistance. These efforts are part of FHS commitment to keeping animals in loving homes whenever possible and to encourage responsible pet ownership.
Approximately 1,600 community animals are helped each year through our various programs.
Foothills Humane Society (FHS) is a private non-profit, 501c3, open admission, no-kill animal welfare organization located on 11 acres nestled in the bucolic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Polk County, North Carolina. Our service area includes all of Polk County, NC and the communities of Landrum, Campobello, and Gowensville in Spartanburg County, SC.
OUR LIVESAVING IMPACT IN 2021:
Approximately 1,600 animals were assisted by FHS in 2021. Assistance comes in many forms. Below are a few our impact metrics:
- Over 900 of those animals were adopted into loving homes
- Over 167 lost animals were reunited with their people
- 620 animal parents were given free or low-cost spay/neuter vouchers
- 12,500 pounds of pet food were provided to citizens and pets in need
- 93 families provided temporary foster homes to over 450 animals
- Volunteers gave 3,627 hours to provide love, companionship and stimulation to improve the lives of animals in the shelter
