A little about me...
Jan 2015, my daughter and I lost our St. Bernard. We had dogs for 18 years and our house was empty. Early Mar 2015, friends (Joan and Kristin) who foster for Animal Aid USA posted a pup on Facebook which looked like a St. Bernard mix. We fell in love immediately. After inquiring, we found he was from GA and lived in a horrible hoarding situation. When he was found, he was tied up in a shed trying to dig his way out. We decided to adopt. The night I was filling out the application my world crumbled. My 22 year old daughter, Amanda, was killed by a hit and run drunk driver. Devastated, I wasn’t going to go through with the adoption. Knowing Amanda would want me to go through with it, I called to see if he was still available. The first thing Joan said, “What shall we call him?” (She held on to him knowing I would change my mind.) I replied “Macan” (pronounced Ma-Khan). After graduating from UD with a BS in 3 foreign languages and literature Amanda started working for Porsche and was encouraging me to purchase a Macan, their new SUV. I truly believe Mac rescued me more than I did him.
