Comments/Description/Why Your Husky or Husky Mix Photo Should Win
Oskar was found as a puppy at a garbage dump in Northern Ontario. He was taken in by a wonderful family and loved for many years until an unfortunate circumstance sent him to Finding Them Homes Rescue. I was going through a turbulent time in my life and when I needed a hand, I found his paw. For 6 years, he was my best friend and my shadow. We moved across the country to Northern Alberta and he was thrilled with the long, cold, snowy winters. He loved to explore the woods and lounge in the living room. Nobody believed he was 11 years old, and he hardly showed his age. But Oskar was taken from us very suddenly by Hemangiosarcoma in August of 2021. Because of his resilient, stubborn nature, we didn't know he was sick, he never acted sick until the day before we lost him. His strength and determination carried him through his life, from the garbage dump, to going to the rescue, to living in a big city, to moving to Northern Alberta, to his last hour with us when he fought to wake up after his surgery. His absence has left a huge hole in my heart and nothing will ever replace him. A vote for Oskar is a vote for a second chance for all rescued dogs that come to Forever Husky ❤🐾

Rescue Shout Out
The rescue I adopted Oskar from, Finding Them Homes, is ceasing operations. After 10 years, after saving thousands of dogs, the emotional and financial burden of a dog rescue has become too much. This is a heartbreaking situation as there are so many dogs in Northern Ontario that need to be rescued. Please support rescues like Forever Husky; this unique and loveable breed is not meant for everyone and so many of them end up in the wrong hands. It takes a special group of people to come together and volunteer their time and sanity to rescuing dogs, and the team at Forever Husky goes above and beyond!
