Short Bio / Story
Hi, my name is Duke! I’m nine years old and proud to be a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. My mom rescued me as a breed rescue when I was just a pup. I was born with a neurological condition called Chiari malformation, which is sadly all too common in my breed because many breeders don’t test for it. Thanks to my mom’s love (and lots of snuggles, meds, and care), I’ve lived a happy, tail-wagging life!
Over the years I’ve faced tremors, weak limbs, and even lost my hearing but nothing stops me from being full of joy. Now at nine, I’m also managing heart disease (another common Cavalier issue), but don’t worry, I still have plenty of pep in my step. People say I still look like a puppy (yippee!), and I think it’s my job to spread happiness wherever I go.
I don’t need much just a comfy bed, a cuddle, and a chance to make people smile. And I aim to please! If my story can bring a little awareness and a lot of joy, then I feel pretty lucky.
