This is Petunia, she is 1-2 years old. We rescued her a long with another basset, Hank! About 3 months ago. We often refer to Petunia as Sybil, due to her many personalities. She is a tiny little basset, just 34 pounds, but her personality(s) is that of a great big one. Petunia is known in the neighborhood for flopping onto her back for a belly rub for anyone she comes across. She is also known for an incredibly loud, piercing bark, when she happens along a cat, dog, bunny, turkey...
This poor little nugget has a deformed front leg, first thought to be displasia but x rays show what seems to be an old break that was not cared for. Because of her incredibly short legs the orthopedic surgeon does not think he can help her. We are currently researching options for her as arthritis will be a future concern. For now, however, Petunia keeps up with the pack and is a bundle of sweet silly energy!
