Before there was Gray Paws Sanctuary, there was Mama Mia. Rescued emaciated and pregnant in 2013, this now-14-year-old black Lab mix raised nine pups and helped raise a movement. As the sanctuary’s first resident and original matriarch, she’s still by founders Darla and Joe’s side, trading puppy wrangling for couch cuddles and gentle nudges for more pets. Mama Mia is the reason Gray Paws exists. And yes, she knows it!
