Merri came into our lives by chance. My husband, Will was working for Amazon at the time. He was delivering a package to the Merriam SPCA. Here comes someone with this scrawny little dog. She had been living on the streets and looked more like a rat. While they were trying to do her paperwork she was at the front desk. It was love at first sight. Will saw her and picked her up. The bond was immediate. Will called home and said we needed to look at a dog. It was the next day and the family goes to see her. She didn't look that good. Poor thing, she had been spayed, deformed and given a haircut. Will fought through all the doubts. We decided to get her. In tradition with our other dog, she was named after a baseball player. Whit Merrifield from the Kansas City Royals.
