Rules

Photos and voting will be accepted on the contest website from 9:00:00 AM (Eastern Time) on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 until 11:59:59 PM (Eastern Time) on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
The fee for each submission is $20 and includes 20 votes towards the submission as well as a charitable tax receipt. Please allow up to 3 weeks after the contest closes to receive your tax receipt via email.
One pet is allowed per submission. For additional pets, please make a separate entry.
Submissions in loving memory of a pet are welcome as a way to honour their legacy but are ineligible to win any contest prizes (regardless of votes raised).
Votes are $1 each, with a minimum $5 vote donation. $1 = 1 vote. $20 will count for 20 votes and $50 will count for 50 Votes, etc.
The voting will end at 11:59:59 PM (Eastern Time) on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
The pet with the highest number of votes when the contests ends will win the Grand Prize pack which includes: a Signature Pet Photography Session with Laura Wombwell Photography and a large unframed print or a mid-sized canvas or metal print. A large print of your pet will hang in the GHS lobby for the duration of the year as the Cutest Pet Photo of 2023. The Grand Prize winner must live within Guelph and Wellington County OR be willing to travel to Guelph and Wellington County for the photoshoot.
The pets with the second and third highest number of votes will each win a 30-minute Mini Pet Pet Photography Session with Laura Wombwell Photography, as well as one 8x10" print or two 5x7" prints.
The Grand Prize Signature Pet Photography Session is 1.5-2 hours and will take place outdoors or in the studio at a mutually agreeable time. The Mini Pet Photoshoots are 30 minutes and will take place at GHS, indoors or outdoors on the trails by GHS. The runners-up must be willing to travel to the Guelph Humane Society for the mini pet photoshoots.
In the event of a tie in votes for any of the top 3 spots, the winners will be determined by the earliest submission date.
Photos become the property of the Guelph Humane Society. By submitting a photo entry, you warrant and represent that your entry is your own original work created by you and that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to your entry materials. Guelph Humane Society reserves the right to disqualify at any time any photo it determines to be unsuitable. If you submit an entry that is copyrighted by another individual, you are responsible for any legal action the copyright holder takes against you. You agree to indemnify Guelph Humane Society and hold them harmless from and against any claims of any nature arising in connection with the Guelph Humane Society Cutest Pet Photo Contest. Entrants grant Guelph Humane Society all rights of ownership, reproduction and royalty-free indiscriminate use of entries and photographs for any purpose. By submitting a photo to the Guelph Humane Society Cutest Pet Photo Contest, the entrant agrees to give and grant to Guelph Humane Society, its employees, nominees, agents, successors and assigns, unlimited authorization, consent, and permission to publish and use, any and all information about the animal and any and all reproductions of animal's likeness (photographic or otherwise), and with or without the use or disclosure of guardian's name.

When submitting your pet's photo for voting, please keep in mind city bylaws and leash laws and keep your pets safe:

Dogs are recommended to be shown wearing a collar and ID tag.
Cats outdoors should be in a safe environment (preferably in an enclosure/ cat-io or in a harness) wearing a collar and ID tag.
Domestic birds and other small animals are recommended to be only photographed indoors.
