Vander's HART Story- A little 8 week old puppy was dropped of at a Kentucky shelter in May 2015 with "a couple of puncture wounds." When the puppy was delivered to HART, it was noticed that the puppy had multiple puncture wounds from some kind of attack and could barely breathe. He was immediately taken to the vet. One of the most serious wounds was to his trachea (wind pipe), which was causing his difficulty in breathing. That wound, as well as a few others, was infected. The puppy was hospitalized and was given the name of Vander, for Evander Holyfield, since he was in the fight of his life. The foster vowed if he survived, they would adopt him. 7 years and 90 lbs later, Vander may have a squeaky "voice" but he is living an amazing life!
