How It Works
From July 6th through August 6th, you can submit your cutest, most charming photos of your Heavenly Paws kitty. Whether it's a candid moment of playful mischief or a serene snapshot of contented purring, we want to see your furry friend in their element. Voting begins on August 6th and continues through September 6th, where supporters can choose their favorite entries. Heavenly Paws Animal Shelter, Inc. is a 501 (c) non-profit, all-volunteer, no-kill feline rescue that was started in 2004 by Angeline Behrendt, a trained veterinary tech.
Our shelter is not a true brick and mortar shelter. We have a network of foster homes to take in and care for homeless cats until permanent, loving homes can be found, offering a second chance of a lifetime of love and happiness. We also strive to help humans understand the importance of controlling the pet population through spaying and neutering.
We rely on private and corporate donations to help fund our rescue operations and accomplish our mission. We do not receive any government funding and no one in our organization receives any of the money that comes into our shelter. All funds are used to properly operate the rescue and provide housing, treatment, and medical care for our cats and kittens.
We treated and saved many cats in challenging situations, including numerous cases of distemper, as well as other serious health problems, illnesses, injuries, and some of the most severe cases of neglect and abuse. All of our volunteers have pledged to rescue as many cats and kittens from the streets as possible with the space and funding we have available. We will always be committed to saving lives, one stray at a time!

Rules:
- Our $5 entry fee is a donation to our shelter and is tax-deductible.
- Photo entries must be of an adopted Heavenly Paws Animal Shelter, Inc. cat. We always love to hear about our adopted kitties from Heavenly Paws! Please only enter indoor setting photos.
- Please make sure to only have your Heavenly Paws kitty in the photo. If you adopted siblings you can have both in one picture. Please make sure the photo is clear, crisp as your photo may be included in our 2027 Heavenly Paws Calendar! We recommend using photos that are at least 1600x1200 pixels or greater as each cover or month image will be a full-bleed image. If you want to use a picture from your smartphone please make sure the kitty is the main focus, the photo is very clear and is not small in size.
- Please do not photoshop your kitty(ies) pictures onto a preexisting backdrop. Pictures must be ones you took.
- Please limit to one photo of each Heavenly Paws kitty. When you go to submit your Heavenly Paws kitty photo please submit their name when you adopted them, new name if you changed their name and adoption year. There will also be a text area to describe your kitty.
- Everyone is eligible to vote. There is no limit to the amount of votes you can cast or the number of Heavenly Paws kitties that you can vote for and you can vote daily!
- When you purchase your "votes" you are actually making a donation to Heavenly Paws Animal Shelter, Inc. When you vote you are not only helping the kitty get more votes; you are also making a donation to our veterinary expenses. Since we are a 501c(3) non-profit organization your votes purchase is tax-deductible. When you complete your transaction to purchase votes, you will receive a confirmation email. This will serve as your tax deductible receipt. All major credit cards and Visa and MasterCard debit cards are accepted.
- Please share the contest with all your family and friends! If you are entering a photo, you will have access to a share link which you can email. To have our Heavenly Paws kitty in our 2027 Calendar you need to share, share and SHARE! Share links are automatically created when you enter your photo so sharing is easy! Just think- you can email your kitty(ies) entry links, put them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.! The more you share the more votes you get for your Heavenly Paws kitties!
- If your submission is of poor quality it will not be used in our 2027 Heavenly Paws Calendar. Once you submit your photo it becomes Heavenly Paws property.
- There will be 24 winners- one kitty for our cover and the other 13 kitties for our months (December 2026-December 2027)! The other 10 kitties will have their pictures on the back of our calendar! Please see more about winners in the prizes area. Please check back frequently to see how your Heavenly Paws kitty(ies) are doing!
- Votes are updated as soon as a vote is casted for your kitty and once the voting time is over if your kitty is one of the winners you will be contacted by us.
