We lost our dog CJ, at 15 years old, she was a rescue and a big part of our family! We miss her so much, it's been 3 years since she passed and we decided it was time to look for another dog. We heard about Helping Hounds from our son and daughter-in-law who have adopted two pups from there as well. One night we were looking through the Helping Hounds photos and there we saw this Welsh Corgi mix pup named Cody on the website. My husband said, "WE HAVE GOT TO MEET THIS DOG"! He was coming from Texas and would be in Syracuse on October 1st. So we made our appointment and anxiously awaited meeting Cody. When we got to Helping Hounds as soon we saw him we fell in love! He looks like a little fox and is a rock star where ever he goes! We take him to the nursing home to visit my mother-in-law and every trip turns into an extended stay because everyone that sees him wants to pet him and learn all about him. His temperment allows anybody from toddlers to 90 plus year olds to pet and meet him. My husbands nickname for him is "The Ambassador" and Cody sure does love all of the attention! Now, we don't really know the full back story, but his X-Rays show he has several buckshot in his body. They don't effect him other than putting a little skip in his step. Given what he must have gone through in the past, he really seems to appreciate our loving home. Cody's first response when somebody comes home is to quickly grab one of his toys and squeak it incessantly, like an excited child! He is such a lovable pup, and makes his rounds every night until he decides where he is going to sleep. Cody has such a great personality and LOVES his squeaky toys as you can see by the picture. He loves his walks everyday and to go for rides in the car when ever he can. We are very grateful for Helping Hounds and thankful for our Cody!
