This is Murphy, he is a rescue pup from Texas. He is my son Jake's puppy, he adopted him last month through Helping Hounds. It was love at first site for both of them. When the volunteer brought "Rusty" out to meet Jake, he was wagging his tail uncontrollably, gave Jake lots of kisses then laid right down at his feet and wanted a belly rub. Shortly after getting to know him, while they were playing he peed on Jake. We knew right then that he christened Jake to be his owner!
Jake decided to name him Murphy, after a navy seal who died in the line of duty named Lt. Michael Murphy. Jake had recently participated in a crossfit competition the"Murph Challenge" dedicated in his honor. When Jake learned that "Murphy" was a stray pup found on the streets of Texas who had suffered a significant leg injury possibly from being hit by a car. He thought the name "Murphy" was fitting for a pup that had survived such a tough start to his life.
In this picture is the bed that Murphy picked out for himself at Pet Smart right after the adoption. Jake laid a couple of beds on the floor and asked him which one he liked. Murphy jumped right on this one and laid down. The blanket came with him in his care package from Helping Hounds. He loves his bed and blanket!!
Jake and Murphy are a great match. Murphy is a sweet pup, very loving and affectionate to all he meets. He is a wonderful addition to our family. We are very thankful that Murphy made it here all the way from Texas, and that Jake was able to adopt him through Helping Hounds. We truly appreciate the dedication and care that all the volunteers give to all the dogs that come through their facility and make it possible for so many people to adopt them.
