I fell in love with Winter before I even met her. I had read her profile over and over again while she made her trip from Texas to New York. At the first possible chance, I arrived at Helping Hounds to meet her with my then one year old daughter in tow. Loud barks filled the air as we followed a friendly volunteer through the back room. And then there she was... sitting straight at the door of her crate, ears up and quiet as a mouse. It was as if she knew we were there for her. Attached to her crate, was a lengthy letter, lovingly written from her foster Mom Amanda, filled with kind words about her time fostering Winter through the birth of her puppies. She had been so loved and it showed.

Four years later, and Winter is still so loved everyday. She has remained our constant companion and my children's best friend. She's a neighborhood favorite, always following the kids from house to house and running in and out of our neighbors' dog doors... (yes, our neighbors are really that cool!) She has brought so much more to our lives than we will ever be able to give her. We will forever be grateful to Amanda for fostering her and to Helping Hounds for bringing her into our family.
