Pet's Bio or Adoption Story
Reggie spent the first year and a half of his life tied in his first owner's backyard. They turned him in to the Roanoke Valley SPCA when they moved and decided not to take him with them. I am a volunteer photographer with the RVSPCA and my husband and I had recently lost our rescued Basset Hound to liver cancer. When we saw Reggie at the shelter, it was love at first sight so of course we adopted him! He has an underbite that makes him look like he is smiling all of the time. With his gentle disposition and love of kids, he was a natural to participate in activities at the shelter involving visits from children. This picture shows him with a group of children from the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Roanoke Valley last December. He was a huge hit with the kids and has been invited back again this year when they visit in December. He is a frequent participant in activities at the shelter when kids are involved. He always receives lots of hugs and kisses which he thoroughly enjoys! One little girl told me that she wished she was my daughter so that Reggie would be her dog, too!
