Penny was named after a fundraiser done with a local elementary school who raised the funds (collecting a mass amount of pennies) to help pay for her training and care by International Hearing Dog Inc., which is an amazing organization that fosters and trains rescue dogs to become service dogs for hearing impaired individuals. They are taught to pick up a ringing phone, notify of knocks on the door, notify deaf parents their baby is crying and so much more!

Penny was then given to a hearing impaired person, at no cost following an intense application process, who is now benefiting from her vast training and living a somewhat easier lifestyle.
