Mardi Paws King & Queen Contest

In the past, we have celebrated Mardi Paws in true New Orleans style with live music, authentic food and good times. Along the way, our community has funneled tens of thousands of dollars through our organization directly into the care of local pets in need.

This year, things will look a bit different. There will be no party, no 250 person gathering with dancing and eating, but there will be a fan favorite- the voting of the Mardi Paws King & Queen. This will be a fundraiser that is easy to participate in, and doesn't even require you to leave the house on a cold Saturday night. Anyone with internet connection can participate.

Save the date for 2/16, which is when we will begin the voting (and donating) process for our shelter Mardi Paws King & Queen. The fundraiser is simple.

Step 1: We post photos of our dogs dressed in their most stylish Mardi Gras garb. We will use a widely popular and secure third party photo voting service for this.

Step 2: You look at the photos and vote ($1 per vote). Vote as many times as you want for whichever dog you want. Our goal is to accumulate 10,000 votes, or $10,000 to replace the revenue we typically expect from this in-person event.

Step 3: After three weeks of voting, the contest will end and the winners will be crowned.

Step 4: The first chance we get some nice weekend weather, the winners are treated to a special day at Scott County Park hiking, going out to lunch and being treated like the King and Queen they are! Our volunteers very much look forward to this day, and so do the dogs.

Please note the various prizes at different levels of donations: the more donations=the more we get to treat our dogs!

$1,000 raised earns that dog a personalized cookie,  and special new toy.
$2,500 raised earns that dog a personalized cake, coffee date,  a trip to pick it up, and a special new toy.
$5,000 raised earns that dog all of the above, plus a day at Scott County Park hiking trails, and a coffee date!

We care for each of our dogs  as if they are our own on a daily basis, this is a fundraiser designed to raise the highest amount of money possible for the pets in our care so that we can continue to treat them like royalty!
