Hi! We're the 2020 Leadership Aberdeen class. Typically, the program is complete closer to the beginning of the year, but because of COVID-19, we've experienced some delays – including having to revise our class project into something that would still bring the community together to raise money for our cause while still practicing social distancing and mitigating the spread of COVID.
What is Leadership Aberdeen?
Leadership Aberdeen provides participants with the opportunity to sharpen their skills, share their experiences, and make life-long connections with fellow participants. Participants also tour a number of local businesses and have the opportunity to learn from their CEO's and staff on company philosophies, goals, and success stories. Plus the class gives back to the community by facilitating a local project or event that will have a positive impact on the Aberdeen community.
Why the Aberdeen Area Humane Society?
The Aberdeen Area Humane Society in Aberdeen, SD originated in 1982 and serves a very large area encompassing much of north central and northeast South Dakota as well as south central and southeast North Dakota. Its mission is to shelter homeless animals, place animals into good homes and to rescue animals from abusive situations.
The Aberdeen Area Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that depends on the generosity of individuals and businesses to care for the animals. The AAHS receives no city, state, or federal dollars or financial support from national humane organizations.
Donations to the Aberdeen Area Humane Society makes a difference, especially when it comes to the society's new building campaign.
A new building is needed in order to ensure that the Aberdeen Area Humane Society can continue to provide care and support for homeless dogs, cats, and other critters. Find more information at
