A little about me...
I adopted Molly (formerly known as Princess) from the HSTB in March of 2010. This is her "gotcha" picture the day I brought her home and here is her story . . .
My daughter and I had gone to look at a litter of kittens in Brandon, but they only had males, my preference was female. As we were heading back towards Tampa, there was an accident on I-275 and they were re-routing traffic off the highway at Armenia, we ended up near the Humane Society and my daughter said "let's just go look" (famous last words), I said, "they're probably closed on Sunday", she called and they were open, so in we went. Initially I was only interested in getting a kitten, however, as I was looking at the kittens in the cages on the top, I was feeling something tapping on my foot from one of the cages on the bottom. Her name was Princess, she was a 2 yo long haired domestic, not much else was known about her history, she had been transferred in from another shelter 3 weeks earlier and she was not perky or playing with the other cats, the shelter volunteer said that she had been completely shut down since arriving. We spent some quality time with her in a private room, she was playing with the toys and really putting on a show and won me over. A few hours, and signatures later, we were on our way home. And while she looked like a beautiful, prim and proper Princess, I wasn't a fan of the name, so as we were driving, we were trying out different names and Chuck Berry's song "Good Golly Miss Molly" came on the radio and that was it, her name would be Molly! She has been a wonderful companion over these past 13 years, and one of the best decisions of my life! She is still pretty healthy and spry for her age, although she is starting to show a few signs of aging with hearing loss and arthritis, but aren't we all.
