A little about me...
Back in 2019, I was a volunteer at pasco county animal shelter and on a Wednesday night in January a few minutes before closing a gentlemen was there to surrender his 3 month old terrified puppy. The shelter turned him away and he didn’t know what to do as he had no place to live. I saw this happening and offered to take the dog and get it to a rescue, I contacted a rescue and offered them a donation to help cover the cost of the pup if they could get him to safety. They said yes but needed me to hold him a few days. I already had a full house with 4 dogs, 4 horses but brought him home with me. Without a proper setup in our home for another dog, I took him to work with me the next few days and even to my doctors appointment. Well, by the weekend, we decided he wasn’t going anywhere. He is my soul dog, my heart dog and he has his quirks which require a lot of extra work but I will always advocate for him and his breed which a DNA test confirmed 100% pit bull(Am Staff) four generations back. . A year ago he had a mass in his leg and although the doctors didn’t think it was cancerous, to ensure the best possible outcome we had his leg amputated. Losing a leg can be hard for any dog but when you are 70 pounds it can defeat you. Watching his resiliency and strength as he learned to be a dog again made me so proud. He is a nervous and timid dog outside of his comfort zone but with encouragement he learned to go up and down the stairs, run, climb, and play with his siblings and everyday he makes me smile.
