Pet's Story or Bio
Lilly is our 5 lb rescue Maltese who joined our family in 2007. She instantly bonded with our other Maltese, Sammy. All that we know is that she was surrendered from a backyard breeder in Tennessee and sent to a foster home here. She was very malnourished, frail and afraid at first. She had no idea what a dog toy was but would try to play with a leaf on the patio. It was 2 weeks before she let out her first bark - at her huge shadow the setting sun projected on the side of the house, no less! We truly believe that she had never been out of a cage until she was rescued. With Sammy by her side, she learned to be a dog & they play every day. She also snuggles with her human parents on a daily basis. She will give hugs by putting her front paws around your neck & burying her face under your chin. Lilly lives like a tiny queen with daily walks in the neighborhood & a daily ritual of a shared breakfast of eggs. She is our wonderful, tiny senior dog. When she really has something important you need to hear, she will toss her head back & howl. We have never been able to break her of the habit of spinning which we assume that she developed by being in a cage. The more excited she is the faster & tighter the circles. She will only spin to the left, though. Our little Nascar dog!

Lilly would be overjoyed if you would help support the Humane Society of Tampa Bay and help make her a calendar dog!
