It was love at first sight, even through a veil of concern. The first time I saw him, a painful eye infection threatened his vision. Though he ultimately lost his right eye, it never dimmed his spirit. That's why I named him Sir Winston. He is the epitome of a gentleman: mellow, dignified, and impossibly sweet. He has never scratched, never bitten, and never caused a moment of trouble. His days are a masterclass in relaxation, spent finding the sunniest spot to snooze or bestowing a gentle body-rub as a sign of affection. He's proof that true character shines from within, and my heart is endlessly full because of him.
