1. Eligibility
"Leader of the Pack" Playing Card Contest (the Contest) is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who are at least eighteen (18) years old at the time of entry. The Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
2. Sponsor
k9 connection, a program of The People Concern, located at 2216 Arlington Ave., Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90018, sponsors the contest.
3. Agreement to Official Rules
Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding. Winning a prize is contingent upon being compliant with these Official Rules and fulfilling all other requirements set forth herein.
4. Contest Period
The Contest dates are as follows: Contest Opens for Entry and Voting:
Saturday, April 25, 2020. Entry and Voting Close: Saturday, June 20, at 11:59:59 pm PST.
Submissions will be accepted for the duration of the Contest via this online site.
5. Contest Entry
- ONE dog only (no people) per entry.
- All Photos must be in a vertical or square format, not horizontal.
- Entry and submission of your dog's photo should include:
- Name of Dog
- Your Name
- Your Email
- Your City and State
- ONE word that describes your dog (printed next to dog's name on the card if it is among the 52 winners). Can you share something special that we could say if your photo wins?
- All photos must be uploaded. Sorry, we cannot accept hard copies.
- Have more than one dog? Multiple entries are encouraged.
- If your pup has passed away, you may still enter their photo In Memoriam.
- Photos must be high resolution (300 dpi or higher; 1836 pixels recommended) or they will be returned, and donations refunded.
- All submitted photos will be shared out on the k9 connection page on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram Pages!
- All entries must be the original work of the entrant. You must own the copyright to the photograph.
6. Contest and Voting Fees
Each entry and submission of a photo is a $5 tax-deductible donation to k9 connection.
Once an entry is featured on the site, each vote is $1, and there is no limit to the number of votes one may cast. You may vote for your own photo and you may spread your votes across multiple dogs. The top 52 vote getters will appear on our 2020 playing card deck!
Prizes
Grand Prize (1) - The entrant with the most votes will have their entry image and pet's name (and one word description) featured on the outside of the box and on an Ace card of their choice (Spades, Hearts, Clubs, Diamonds). The printed decks will be a 52 card, standard poker-size 2.5'' x 3.5'' deck. They will also receive 10 boxes of playing cards. Details about recognition at our event on Saturday, Sept. 26, are outlined below.
Second, Third and Fourth Place Prizes (3) - The entrants in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place will have their entry image and pet's name/word featured on an Ace card of their choice, given it has not already been reserved by an entrant ranking higher. First place gets first choice, second place gets second choice, third place gets third choice, and fourth place gets fourth choice.
Remaining Prizes (48) The next 48 entrants with the highest votes after the fourth place winner will have their entry image and pet's name on one card in a 52 card deck (standard poker-size 2.5'' x 3.5''). The card in this category will be chosen in accordance with the chart below.
If your entry receives more than 50 votes, you will receive one free deck of "All in for k9" playing cards.
In the event of a tie, the date the photo was submitted will be used as the tie breaker. The contestant who entered the contest first will be awarded the prize. WINNERS' CHART (52)
Cards will be assigned in the following order based on each dog's final placement at the end of the contest on June 20th at 11:59:59 PM.

BONUS: Grand Prize Winner - Scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2020, "All in for k9" is our 6th Annual Charity Poker Tournament and Casino Night. If we are cleared by the State of California and the City of Los Angeles to host the live, in-person event, the Grand Prize Winner/s of the Contest (and their dog) are invited to attend as our VIP guests (must be 21 or over). Their winning entry will be prominently displayed on an event poster; and they will be introduced during our half-time presentation. Our casino company partner will also be using the Contest playing cards at the Tournament and Casino tables.
7. Prize Awarding
The Sponsor will attempt to notify the top eligible vote-getters via email on or about June 1, 2020. If the potential winner cannot be contacted within five (5) days after the date of the first attempt to contact her/him, the Sponsor may select an alternate potential winner in her/his place from the next non-winning, eligible top vote-getter.
8. Winner Notification
The potential winners will be notified by email. Potential winners must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event that a potential winner is disqualified for any reason, Sponsor will award the applicable prize to an alternate winner among remaining eligible entries. Prizes will be fulfilled approximately 8-10 weeks after the conclusion of the contest.
