Kayser Animal Rescue Effort (KARE) is holding our first annual online photo contest to raise money and help support our efforts to rescue and re-home dogs and cats at risk and support spay neuter initiatives in the San Antonio area.
There are four ways to participate:
- Enter a photo of your pet to compete for great prizes and monthly features in our 2024 calendar.
- Reserve an individual date on our 2024 calendar for a photo of your pet. This ensures they will make it into the calendar no matter what!
- Pre-order a 2024 calendar
- Vote for other entries
The photos that receive the most votes during the contest will be awarded
GREAT prizes, and the top 13 vote-getters will be given monthly features in our 2024 KARE calendar.
We encourage you to enter the contest with your favorite photo of your dog or cat and a few words about them. Then invite your family and friends to vote for your photo! The contest is open to anyone and you may enter your photo for FREE. Your photo entry does not have to be of a rescue pet. We welcome photos of all family dogs and cats - beautiful and regal, silly and goofy, naughty and nice.
Voting is easy and fun and open to everyone. Votes are $1 each. Each dollar donated equals an equivalent number of votes. A minimum donation of $5 is required. You can vote as often as you like during the contest. You can apply all your votes to one photo or vote for multiple photos during the contest.
For the best chance to win, be sure to spread the word about your pet’s entry into the contest. Ask family and friends to go online and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! You can use the sharing buttons that appear on your pet’s photo page to share your photo entry with your Facebook friends. Plus, you can email links to to encourage voting for your pet’s photo. This will help you receive the votes for your photo(s) all the while helping us raise donations to support KARE!
Don't have a pet or a favorite photo to submit? No worries, you can participate AND support KARE by browsing the amazing photos and stories, picking your favorites and VOTING. Check back often, photos will be added throughout the contest. What a great way to start your day on a happy note, looking at pictures of adorable pets and voting to support rescue!
Proceeds will benefit KARE and fund the medical expenses and spay/neuter programs for our rescue animals. KARE is a designated 501(c)(3) charity, making all donations toward voting in the contest tax deductible.

- A copy of our 2024 KARE Calendar
- A pack of pet themed greeting cards and gift boxes designed by “I Made This Card For You”. (Similar example below).
4th Place Through 12th Place:
The next 9 entries with the highest number of votes will have their photo featured on one of the months in the 2024 KARE calendar AND will also receive a 2024 KARE calendar.
Prize Notes:
All contest prizes have either been generously donated or underwritten by friends of KARE. Proceeds will benefit Kayser Animal Rescue Effort and fund the medical and rehoming expenses of our rescue animals.
Contest begins 12:00 AM (Central Time) on Friday, September 22, 2023 and runs through 9:00 PM (Central Time) on Monday, October 16, 2023.
- Voting and entry is open to EVERYONE, not just adopters of KARE. Your entry does NOT have to be a rescue animal. We love all cats & dogs and welcome all entries.
- Dog and/or cat photos only, no people please.
- No illustrations or artwork please.
- It is FREE to submit a photo!
- To enter the contest, you will submit a photo, provide your pets name, your name, address, and a couple sentences about your pet. This will help you obtain votes and may be published in the calendar if you win.
- Votes are $1 each. Each dollar donated equals an equivalent number of votes. A minimum donation of $5 is required. You can use your votes to vote on one photo entry, or spread them across your favorite photos.
- If you submit a photo to the contest, you can email links to your family and friends to encourage voting for your photo. On your pet's public page, there is a "share" button that allows you to share your entry.
- Please note, upon winning if your photo is too low resolution for the calendar we will ask you for an updated photo.
- Contest votes are tax deductible. The email acknowledgment to your online donation serves as your tax receipt.
- We plan for the 2024 KARE calendar to be available for distribution by Mid - December of 2023. Calendar pre-sales begin during the event. More information regarding ordering calendars will be posted on our social media.
- Contest donations are processed by a secure (SSL, PCI-Compliant) payment processor. You can donate using all major credit cards and Visa and MasterCard debit cards.
- Registration information shared by participants when creating an account to submit a photo entry will be kept strictly confidential.
- The selection process with be determined by electronic tabulations under the supervision of GoGo photo contest.
- All entries and photographs may be used by KARE at their discretion for any and all purposes. If you submit an entry that is copyrighted by another individual or company, you are responsible for obtaining permission from the owner.
- By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless KARE and the contest Sponsors and each of their respective officers, directors, representatives, volunteers and agents (the Released Parties) from and against any claims of any nature arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize.
