SAGE is a small nonprofit organization based in South Central Pennsylvania with a base near San Francisco (CA) , founded in 2011 with the mission to raise awareness and improve the lives of the Galgo Español.

They support local shelters in Spain through dedicated fundraising efforts.
A key part of their mission is placing rescued Galgos and Podencos into safe and loving homes, ensuring the highest quality of care and support.
SAGE collaborates with several reputable rescues in Spain: Fundación Benjamin Mehnert, SOS Podenco Rescue and others. Over the years, they have developed strong relationships with these shelters to better support the Galgos in need.
Their founder, Petra Postma, discovered the dire situation of the Galgos in 1999 when she adopted her first Galgo while living in the Netherlands. Her involvement quickly grew, leading her to volunteer with Stichting Greyhounds In Nood Nederland, one of the oldest Galgo rescue organizations in Europe. Petra's dedication led her to become a board member and eventually the president of the group. Upon moving to the U.S., she brought her Galgos with her and established SAGE to continue her rescue work. Knowing that 50,000 to 100,000 Galgos face a grim fate each year, Petra remains committed to making a difference.
Today, SAGE operates as a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity in South Central Pennsylvania and California. Their dedicated board and volunteers work tirelessly to spread awareness, find forever homes, and support Galgos in need.
