We adopted Nani Malika six years ago from the Hawaiian Humane Society while living on the Big Island through a director-to-director transfer. As founders and longtime supporters of the Big Island Humane Society, we were grateful to be able to adopt her from Hawaiian Humane and have her sent to us in Maui after instantly falling in love with her as a puppy.

Nani has truly been a success story. Now six years old and living in San Diego, California, she is a certified service and therapy dog working in hospitals, clinics, VA hospitals, hospice centers, and Boys & Girls Clubs. She brings comfort to patients, individuals with disabilities, those facing mental health challenges, and their families. Many people have shared that she is one of the best therapy dogs they have ever encountered.
