Vernon is a retired Hazmat fire department captain with more than 30 years of service. He loved the outdoor nature of his job, helping his community, and working with his team, who he calls his family. Now, he’s found passion in education and sports, supporting Maui’s youth.

Shaggy, once a matted stray Shih Tzu who spent a couple of years dodging capture, is now safe and spoiled in his furever home. He enjoys dried fish, love from his family, and naps beside horses and goats.
