In 2014, a month after our Akita unexpectedly passed away, my husband's sister was looking for a family dog in western New York, and my husband went along for the ride. The puppies they met had been rescued from a kill shelter and were estimated to be seven to eight weeks old. They believed the puppies were a mix between Lab and American Bull Dog. My sister-in-law fell in love with Marley's brother, Harley, and my husband fell in love with Marley. Before Marley's first birthday, our daughter was born, and she and Marley have been inseparable since day one. He is playful, yet always gentle and protective with her. He is a 100lbs of silliness and love, and often thinks he is a lap dog. When he can't sneak into bed with Mommy and Daddy, he sneaks into bed with our daughter. We couldn't imagine our family without his silly faces, loving kisses, and fun energy.
