Pet's Story or Bio
I adopted Mona Lisa the tortoise shell kitten sight unseen during the pandemic. I FaceTimed with her terrific foster mom. The first “visit” found her hiding under the bed. The second involved a chase & ambush, But her foster mom believed Mona would overcome her skittishness & mistrust of people & was showing much progress over three weeks.
I had a good feeling about Mona & didn’t want her to be adopted, then returned because she was shy & fearful & wasn’t a lap kitten. She had been picked up as a stray at four months, & Morris was her second shelter. She had received excellent care at both shelters, & detailed records showed she was in very good health.
Mona is a little over nine months old now &, while she hasn’t let me pick her up, she has slept on my bed from the start & the last few months let me pet her little paws & pads & now demands head, cheek & under-the-chin rubs & pets all over her back, including her tail. She has become a regular purring machine!
I don’t mind waiting for Mona’s time table. She is worth it. She is sweet, athletic, curious, funny & playful….all in all, a wonderful companion.
