Pet's Story or Bio
This little guinea pig was found outdoors, hiding under a bush. Several people spent a long time trying to catch her because she was speedy and afraid. A flyer was hung on nearby streets asking, "DID YOU LOSE YOUR GUINEA PIG?" -- Tracy called to find out if the animal was okay (yes, although scared) and whether it had been claimed (no).
The rescuer could not keep the piggy and planned to transport her to a shelter the next day. Tracy had 2 guinea pigs at home and had cared for 2 others before those; she loved them like family. So "little Black" came home with Tracy, who didn't want to believe someone released a helpless domestic animal outside in the summer heat.
The new gal's name became Trixie because she was fast, slippery, and full of tricks (would have been "Houdini" if a male). Trixie learned to trust and became a bouncy, cheerful pet who enjoyed living with 2 furry friends. She was both bold and skittish, brave yet shy, clever and resilient. Trixie groomed her cagemates while they rested, and she perched atop Tracy's shoulder during TV time. Sometimes she whistled loudly for no apparent reason, causing Tracy to laugh at her joyous announcements. And when one of Trixie's sisters died, she bonded closely with the other to the point where they snuggled cheek-to-cheek.
Tracy adopted 5 more guinea pigs since Trixie, loving a total of 13 over the past 20+ years... likely with more to come.
