Since it began in 1969, the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra has evolved from a group of local musicians and students into a professional symphony with artistic and educational initiatives that provide the framework for each season. The longevity of an orchestra with such high artistic standards is truly remarkable for a community the size of Marion, Indiana. More than 45 years later, the community we serve has demonstrated a mutual commitment to the arts and the cultural vitality of our area.
On October 31, 2015, the MPO will present its Opening Night performance in “A Symphony for the Senses,” the next season of concerts for patrons of Grant County and the surrounding communities. The series is filled with performances that will rejuvenate the senses and please a wide range of musical tastes. We’ll celebrate the holidays with family-friendly concerts and even more affordable ticket pricing for children. Some of the finest musicians in the state will be featured along with several accomplished guest artists under the direction of a professional Conductor in the most beautiful and intimate venues in the county.
The 2015 Celebrity Conductor Contest is a fun, fresh opportunity for faithful patrons and area businesses to show their support for the MPO!
