The Marion Philharmonic Orchestra announces the 2015 Celebrity Conductor Contest!
For a frightfully good time this Halloween, treat yourself to an evening with the MPO and Friends on Saturday, October 31, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. in the F. Ritchie Walton Performing Arts Center. In a mysterious turn of events, Maestro Alexander Platt has said he will surrender his baton for one number in this spirited concert to a Guest Conductor to be chosen by the community. Take part in the chilling competition by casting a vote here ($1 per vote) for your favorite Conductor: Reggie Nevels, Leslie Hendricks or John Lawson. Then come dressed in your Halloween best on the eve of the concert to see your favorite Celebrity Conductor perform with the orchestra! Summon your tickets for the concert by calling (765) 662-0012.
The Prize
The Winner of the MPO Celebrity Conductor Contest will have the privilege of conducting the orchestra for one number during the Opening Night Concert on Saturday, October 31, 2015. All three contestants in the MPO Celebrity Conductor Contest will have the opportunity to “audition” for the audience on the evening of the Opening Night Concert on 10/31/15. Each contestant will be introduced and allowed to give the audience a one-minute preview of their conducting skills during the first half of the concert. After the final votes are cast and tallied at Intermission of the concert, the contestant with the most votes will be announced and will conduct the first number in the second half of the concert.
