Two years ago, a shy rescue from Georgia stepped into our lives, soft as a whisper and sweet as a peach. Griffey is gentleness in motion - padding beside us on muddy trails, pausing to listen to birdsong, then racing ahead with the breeze lifting her ears. In the car she leans into the world, nose to the wind, as if saying hello to every mile. At home she is everyone’s shadow and heartbeat, loyal to the buzz of the kitchen and the quiet of movie night. Myrtle, her cat sister, is her favorite co-conspirator; Juneau, her brother, is the expert in kisses and couch snuggles. Griffey has stitched herself into our every day, warming the rooms she enters. Our house is fuller, our hearts are softer because she is here.
