I am nominating my mom, Mary Alloy of Just Pizza in Amherst, because for the past year (and many years before), she has worked tirelessly to help animals in need. My mom always says she doesn’t have the time to physically volunteer at animal shelters so instead she finds ways to help through pizza!
This year my mom started putting shelter dogs on her pizza boxes to help them get adopted! She also gives a $50 gift certificate from our pizzeria to anyone who adopts a dog from Niagara County SPCA. Usually when someone adopts a dog from the shelter they immediately come into the pizzeria with their certificate to celebrate with their new best friend. It makes my mom so happy to see.
If you come to our pizzeria you will see flyers of adoptable dogs and cats plastered all over the windows and donation boxes to various animal welfare organizations stacked on our front counters.
My mom doesn’t do any of this for recognition. She does it because there’s nothing more in the world she’d rather do than help animals in need. My mom donates pizza to lots of animal rescue organizations and doesn’t charge a dime. She’s adopted three cats from Niagara County SPCA in the past year, some of which were special needs.
I am very proud of my mom and I know it would mean the world for her to be named Shelter Animal Advocate of the Year because she’s been a Shelter Animal Advocate her whole life. Please vote for Mary Alloy of Just Pizza!
