Nominee's story
Jill Roberts and Chelsea Treichler, owners of Bliss Salon in North Tonawanda, began advocating for the shelter animals of Niagara County SPCA when they first sponsored a cage. They immediately fell in love with the shelter dogs and wanted to do more so they started promoting adoptable dogs at their salon! Photos of dogs were displayed everywhere and donation boxes were put out to spread the word about how to help the shelter animals. Not only did they collect donations, they also sold tons of calendars to benefit the SPCA and all of their social media posts promoted shelter animals. Jill and Chelsea used their positive reputation in the community and with their clients to help animals and that’s why they should be named “Shelter Advocate of the Year!”
