Nominee's story
Mike and Gina Bellreng of Bellrengs Towing & Automotive have gone above and beyond to help shelter animals at Niagara County SPCA and other animal welfare organizations right here in Western New York.

The Bellrengs began their journey with the SPCA by sponsoring a cage and since then have helped 13 animals find their forever homes through positive promotion of the animals on their social media pages. They often come to spend time with the animals and go for walks with them when they visit.

During the winter, the SPCA van became stuck in a snowstorm and the Bellrengs came to the rescue and offered to tow the van free of charge.

Then when the SPCA had a special events fundraiser coming up, the Bellrengs showed up with a guitar signed by the Goo Goo Dolls and a Bills Jersey for the shelter to auction off and raise crucial funds. On top of that, they also sponsored the event!

Recently the shelter posted that it was in need of deck boxes. The Bellrengs immediately went online and purchase two huge deck boxes for the shelter dogs toys to go in. And during COVID-19, the couple had brick oven pizza delivered to employees at the shelter to thank them for caring for the animals during this difficult time.

The Bellrengs also have several rescue dogs of their own that they treat like children. It’s this kind of commitment to animals in need that makes the Bellrengs a perfect nominee for “Shelter Animal Advocate of the Year!”
