Nominee's story
Lacey Gawel is the manager of De Dee's Dairy in Niagara Falls, N.Y. This summer Niagara County SPCA approached her about an idea to help shelter dogs get adopted. It was called #AdoptAPupInACup and the SPCA wanted to advertise their shelter dogs by putting their cute faces on laminated photos attached to popsicle sticks that would be placed in "Pup Cups." Lacey said yes to the idea immediately and did several television interviews to promote the program! De Dee's is also donating $1 from every Pup Cup sold to the shelter! Lacey is also their social media manager and continues to advertise #AdoptAPupInACup on social media. Lacey is a great friend to Niagara County SPCA and its shelter animals, which is why she should be named "Shelter Advocate of the Year!"
